Piano Forte
Steinway & Sons
Piano Forte is the new concept proposal for traditional Steinway & Sons pianos. In collaboration with Marc Thorpe, the concept is defined by a continuous, flowing curve that seamlessly integrates hard and soft surfaces, creating a sleek, contemporary aesthetic while preserving the iconic sophistication of the brand. A defining feature of this design is the innovative use of aluminium, which is crafted with a unique resonance pattern. This pattern is inspired by the phenomenon in which specific frequencies amplify sound vibrations, generating a dynamic gradient of infinite curves. The strategic placement of aluminium in key areas not only elevates the minimalist form but also adds a tactile dimension, offering a refined contrast to the fluidity of the overall design. This piano is a harmonious blend of cutting-edge materiality and exceptional craftsmanship, setting a new standard in the art of piano making.
